You would think that the students would have a more profound question for a guest speaker that has been very successful in the computer games and software development industry. The senior students did have good questions that they shared with Joe Pantuso during his visit last fall, but the question about the socks was their first question. Joe was involved with Sembawang Corporation in Sinapore developing a start-up company called "Games Online" back in the 1990's. The above picture was taken and posted on his partner’s blog during that time. His partner was blogging the progress of the start-up and reflecting on the day-to-day challenges they faced. Who knew what a blog was in the 1990's?
We found this picture taken at the Mandarin Hotel in Sinapore and thought that Joe would get a kick out of it. Joe is a few years older now, lives in the Dayton area and remains entrepreneurial, looking for what can be developed next. Most recently, he and a partner launched Tray Games, found on the web here. Tray Games bills itself as “The only 100% multi-player “pick up and play” game community”.
Joe shared some of what he is working on now, explained much about how to take initiative and look for opportunities, work hard, and how to persist in learning new things. The students were quite glad for Joe's friendly visit and thanked him for caring enough about the next generation of potential entrepreneurs to share his wisdom. Joe is not just smart, he has wisdom. The students saw that and respected that in him.

Thanks again for the visit, Joe, and we agree, those socks look like you are wearing a cast on your leg.
