How to Build a Budget Desktop PC

There is a great website called 5min Life Videopedia. You can access the Tech section by clicking here. The Tech section is divided between Do It Yourself (DIY) and Hardware. 5min allows you to embed their videos. We watched the video embedded below one morning when we only had only four students in 1st Period because many schools were delayed because of ice or snow. $500 is not a lot to pay for a computer that will handle a range of applications and be serviceable for gaming.

The four students and I didn't just watch the video, we researched the components that the author had selected to see whether in fact this computer could be built for under $500. The only component that we did not find at or below the prices mentioned was the Window V7 64 bit Home Premium operating system, but we came within $19. of the price mentioned by the author

If you are considering building your own computer and have a limited budget you might think about the system described below. If you are a gamer, you should compare the system specifications of your favorite games found at the game creator's website with those mentioned in the video. Maybe you would want more video card, but you could read the product reviews found at Newegg or TigerDirect for the Sapphire Radeon HD 4600 and see what others are saying about the capabilities of the card.
