Sara heard a beep-beep when she powered on her lab computer and discovered that she needed to re-seat her heatsink on her CPU. A classmate, Shay, had done this task a number of times and I asked him to coach Sara. The old and dry thermal compound must be peeled off, both components cleaned with isopropyl alcohol, and new thermal compound applied in a thin layer to the CPU. You can watch YouTube videos or videos from other trusted sources and get the hang of this pretty easily.
Sara did a good job with friendly instruction from Shay. Sara has a knack for getting this done right, and Shay has a calm, easy way of helping people.
Good job, both of you.
